Warrillee Santa Gertrudis Stud History

Warrillee History

The Beutel family commenced breeding Santa Gertrudis cattle in 1972 with the purchase of a bull at the Coochin stud dispersal sale. So impressive were the bulls progeny that it sparked the beginning of our love for the great cherry red cattle. In 1980 Warrillee stud was founded on a property at Tarome in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range on the coastal side of Cunninghams Gap.
Warrillee Santa Gertrudis Stud was established with the purchase of our foundation sire Valleyview Barrington at the 1980 Brisbane Royal Show. A number of females were then acquired from various studs including the Agar dispersal sale, Robenlea, Keystone, Kabunga and Yarrawonga.
The Tarome property was a mixture of irrigation farming and grazing land with frontage to the Warrill creek for which the stud was named after. In 1997 the Tarome property was sold to focus solely on cattle breeding and finishing. The current property, 25km east of Tarome in the Bunburra district 6km south of the town of Boonah was then purchased as a base for the Warrillee stud in conjunction with another property in the Milford district 4km away.
To promote the stud we commenced showing stud cattle in 1985 and for the next 10 years Warrillee cattle were shown throughout south east QLD and the eastern Darling Downs including Toowoomba and Brisbane Royal shows and Santa Feature shows.  Some of the highlights are:
